As a non-uniformed police officer, you will serve as a specialized investigator dedicated to the detection and prevention of crime. This position focuses on conducting skilled investigative work involving alleged crimes against persons or property, operating both in the office and in the field with minimal supervision.
You will be the primary point of contact for complex criminal cases, managing the entire investigative lifecycle from the initial scene response to courtroom testimony. Your day will involve obtaining statements, interrogating witnesses and suspects, and apprehending offenders. You will coordinate closely with the Lea County Correctional Facility for on-site felony investigations, collaborate with the Medical Examiner on death investigations, and work alongside prosecutors to ensure cases are prepared for successful trial.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy and judgment. You will analyze complex situations, secure and preserve evidence, and utilize resources from agencies such as the FBI, DEA, and ATF. Whether conducting narcotics investigations, analyzing digital forensics, or investigating official misconduct, you will play a critical role in upholding justice and maintaining public safety within the community.
