About the Bureau

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) within the Criminal Law Division of the Office of Attorney General is dedicated to the detection and investigation of violations of Commonwealth laws. Our mission encompasses a complete spectrum of criminal justice, ranging from routine misdemeanors to complex corrupt organizations and first-degree murder cases where the death penalty is sought.

About the Role

As a Special Agent II, you will serve as a critical component of our investigative team, handling work of a highly confidential nature. This position involves conducting independent investigations or coordinating the efforts of a team, providing direction and guidance to less experienced agents. You will utilize the full spectrum of investigative processes to handle cases that are routine, sensitive, complex, and difficult.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include examining financial records and legal documents to detect illegal activity, conducting surveillance, and interviewing witnesses or interrogating subjects. You will be responsible for collecting and preparing evidence for prosecution, executing search warrants, and participating in raids and undercover assignments. A significant portion of your role involves appearing in court to present testimony and evidence as a prosecution witness before district justices or statewide investigating grand juries. Additionally, you will be required to qualify with an approved firearm at predetermined intervals and may be called upon to use a firearm in self-defense or to prevent felonious crimes.

Application Instructions

Applicants must possess Act 120 certification, certification from an Act 120 equivalent training program as determined by the Office of Attorney General, or have successfully completed the Commonwealth Investigators Training Program. Please review the minimum experience and training requirements carefully, which include specific combinations of accredited education and relevant law enforcement or investigative experience.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
