Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant. With 60 programs across the state serving a wide range of populations in need, LSF is a mission-driven organization where staff become part of a community dedicated to transforming the lives of those in need. Employees find growth opportunities as they explore areas of interest within the organization, contributing to a culture of support and professional development.
The Placement Specialist II is a vital link in the foster care system, dedicated to making a tangible impact on the lives of children and families in Lee County. This role exists to coordinate and arrange out-of-home placements for children requiring entry into licensed foster care, with a specific focus on the unification of separated siblings and the stabilization of placements.
In this position, you will serve as a liaison between families, youth, case management teams, and placement providers such as foster homes, group homes, and shelters. Your day involves reviewing intake assessments to determine the most appropriate, least restrictive placement options for each child's unique needs. You will facilitate stabilization staffings, represent the Foster Care Program in court proceedings, and ensure that placement outcomes are evaluated weekly to develop actionable plans. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, as you will often function in the community without direct supervision, while maintaining rigorous communication with supervisors and adhering to all safety procedures.
This is a dynamic role that demands flexibility, as you will participate in an on-call after-hours schedule and work evenings and weekends to meet the urgent needs of the children and families you serve. You will also be responsible for transporting youth to and from placements as needed, requiring the use of your own vehicle and a valid Florida driver's license.
Candidates selected for an interview will be required to undergo a background screening in accordance with the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse (Section 435.12, Florida Statutes). All applicants should be prepared to discuss their experience in child welfare and their commitment to professional ethics during the selection process.
LSF is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. We are committed to fostering a diverse, multi-cultural environment where every team member can thrive while serving our community.
Note: Lutheran Services Florida must ensure that all job vacancy postings include a clear and conspicuous link to the AHCA Clearinghouse website regarding background screening requirements.
