About the Team

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where their aviation expertise directly supports national security.

About the Role

As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots who want to transition into a rewarding federal career with exceptional stability and purpose. You will partner with ground assets to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day involves monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a security-based position where your judgment and flight skills are essential to the mission.

Hiring Process

The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply:

  1. Direct Contact: Fill out the Air Interdiction Agent applicant checklist and email it to a recruiter at cbp_amo_recruiting@cbp.dhs.gov along with your resume.
  2. USAJOBS: Submit your application directly through the USAJOBS portal.
  3. Airline Apps: Apply via the Airline Apps platform.

Additionally, we highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. When selecting your position of interest, choose "Air and Marine Operations, Air Interdiction Agent," and complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.

Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), or National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations.

Culture and Opportunity

We are actively recruiting seasoned pilots and those with military training to join our ranks. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your aviation background in a high-impact law enforcement environment. The role offers a dynamic day-to-life where you will operate in diverse environments, from night flights to operations in poor weather and unfavorable terrain. Join a team where your skills are in high demand and your contribution is vital to the safety of the nation.
