We've made a lot of progress since opening our doors in 1942, but one thing has never changed: our commitment to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate. At Ochsner, whether you work with patients every day or support those who do, you are making a difference. We believe that every award earned, every record broken, and every patient helped is the result of the dedicated employees who fill our hallways.
Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center- Shreveport are seeking a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency General Surgery within the Department of Surgery. Reporting to Trauma Medical Director Brett Chapman, MD, under the leadership of Department Chair R. Keith White, MD, this role offers the opportunity to serve in an academic practice that balances high-acuity patient care with resident and medical student education.

The position involves covering the full scope of trauma care in a busy urban environment, where 20%–30% of cases involve penetrating trauma. With 3,400 annual traumas and a large referral base, you will collaborate with a collegial team of physicians and nurses to customize care plans for each patient.
Beyond clinical duties, this is an academic appointment where you will participate in Surgical Critical Care fellowship education (2 fellows per year) and teach medical students and residents from multiple departments. Publishing is highly encouraged, and you will have the opportunity to engage in clinical and/or basic science research within a robust research enterprise.
LSU Health Shreveport is home to the School of Medicine, School of Graduate Studies, and School of Health Professions & Sciences. The campus hosts a diverse academic community with more than 800 students enrolled in degree programs and nearly 600 residents and fellows trained annually across 47 ACGME-accredited programs.
