This is a specialized Registered Nurse position within a Level 1 Trauma Center, designed for experienced professionals rather than novices. The role demands independent, competent management of complex, high-acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients. You will serve as a critical member of the Critical Care Division, providing comprehensive care for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics.
The unit operates as a hybrid department comprising a 28-bed Medical ICU (MICU) and a 10-bed Surgical/Trauma/Neurosurgical ICU (SICU). Assignments are dynamically allocated between these units based on census and specific patient needs. The MICU manages complex medical cases including ARDS, AHRF, COPD, sepsis, cardiac surgery, and ECMO. The SICU focuses on head injuries, trauma, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and general surgery, with some pediatric cases.
You will work a Day shift on a 3x12-hour schedule (07:00 - 19:30). While the primary assignment is day shift, the role requires flexibility to meet fluctuating census needs. Rotating shift availability is preferred, though block schedules for day or night shifts may be considered. You will primarily float within the Critical Care Division but may be assigned to other units as census dictates.
The environment is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretaries. You will utilize advanced equipment such as CRRT, ECMO, Impella, IABP, Camino ICP monitors, and various ventilators to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, spinal cord injuries, and post-cardiac or neurosurgical needs.
Candidates must submit references and comply with Tier 2 Travel Compliance requirements. A start date and Return to Office (RTO) confirmation are required at the time of submission. The facility accepts license and background hits on a case-by-case basis, provided they are noted prior to submission. Local candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius; local rules are not accepted for this position.
Modules are completed pre-start and vary by specialty; the first 8 hours are non-billable, with any additional time being billable. A 36-hour orientation is provided. The contract spans 91 weeks with guaranteed hours.
This position requires compliance with specific health mandates. The COVID-19 vaccine is required, with exemptions available only for medical or religious reasons. Flu vaccine status is currently listed as unknown. The facility maintains a Return Staff Policy of 1 year for previous employees.
