About the Team

Banner Children's Specialists (BCS) is dedicated to transforming lives one surgery at a time. Our team at Banner Children's at Desert in Mesa, AZ, serves a pediatric population of over 350,000. The hospital, opened in November 2009, was designed "Through the Eyes of a Child" to provide a comforting, non-institutional environment that inspires healing, learning, and imagination. It features a 120-bed Level 3 NICU, a Level Two Pediatric Trauma Center, and extensive non-procedure zones like the Forever Young Zone and Sophie's Place for play therapy and relaxation.

The Pediatric Surgery team currently consists of two Pediatric Surgeons and seven Advanced Practice Providers. We work closely with a wide range of Pediatric Subspecialties, including Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Neurosurgery, Hematology/Oncology, and Cardiology. Our surgeons also participate in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary fetal care program and provide inpatient care for neonates at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix and full surgical services at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.

About the Role

We are seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon to join our growing program in the Phoenix Metro Area. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide a wide range of surgical care for patients from premature newborns to 18-year-old adolescents. You will perform the full scope of laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, robotic, and open surgeries addressing diseases of the respiratory, digestive, biliary, genitourinary, and dermatologic systems.

This position is ideal for a candidate interested in a high-volume environment with several index cases. The role includes a leadership opportunity (0.9 FTE Clinical / 0.1 FTE Leadership) for qualified candidates. You will spend two days a week in the outpatient clinic and cover seven shifts of call per month, including one weekend. The position offers the chance to teach PGY3 residents from the UACOMP Integrated Surgical Residency and MS3/MS4 students.

Mesa, AZ, is conveniently located east of Phoenix, near top universities, an international airport, and numerous entertainment and outdoor recreation venues.
