Ochsner Children's Hospital is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) Pediatricians for a NICU Hospitalist position in New Orleans, LA. Candidates for our Level IV NICU are invited to join a division working alongside an experienced team of neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners. We are the only hospital in Louisiana to provide both Level IV neonatal and obstetric care at the same facility, Ochsner Baptist Hospital.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art 67-bed Level IV NICU featuring private rooms for singleton patients as well as multiples. The position includes access to a fetal echo section that coordinates care for babies with complex congenital heart diseases. Our team participates in the Vermont Oxford Network and engages in continuous performance improvement initiatives. A full spectrum of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty support is always available, alongside neonatal telemedicine services and a neonatal resident rotation.
Ochsner Children's includes more than 85 primary care pediatricians and 290+ subspecialists across 27 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi. We are the region's leader in complex pediatric care, with advanced programs in congenital heart surgery, liver and bone marrow transplantation, hematology-oncology, advanced GI and hepatology, and the Gulf South's only comprehensive developmental pediatrics center.
Our facilities include a 67-bed Level IV NICU, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed CVICU, a 4-bed NAEC-accredited Level IV Pediatric EMU, and a 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unit with a dedicated Pediatric ED. We operate a 24/7 neonatal and pediatric transport team with ground, rotary, and fixed-wing aircraft support. Looking ahead, construction is underway for a new 5-story Children's Hospital, opening in late 2027/early 2028, with planned expansion of neonatal services.
We are home to an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and the Ochsner Pediatric Residency Program. We offer teaching opportunities with medical students from Tulane University and the University of Queensland, as well as the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. Our faculty publishes hundreds of research papers annually and leads multi-center studies and clinical trials. Consistently ranked in U.S. News & World Report's Top 50 Children's Hospitals for Cardiology and Heart Surgery for multiple consecutive years, we are proud to be recognized as the #1 Children's Hospital in Louisiana.
