UNM Hospital is New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's premier teaching hospital. The Women's Health Physical Therapy team operates within the WHC Physical Therapy department, focusing primarily on women's health and pelvic floor issues while also serving men with pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. The team works in close collaboration with Uro-gynecology providers, often presenting continuing education programs and participating in Uro-gynecology fellows' interviews and research. Many team members also teach within the UNM Physical Therapy program, creating an environment where educational opportunities abound.
This Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy position is based in an outpatient clinic with a 0.75 FTE schedule on days. The role involves organizing and delivering medically-prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. Patient care assignments may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups. The position emphasizes collaboration with medical staff, patient education on specialized equipment and safety, and supervision of students and volunteers. The team is dedicated to proactive patient safety and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, visitors, and hospital employees.
While experience is preferred, new graduates are welcome to apply. Selected candidates will be supported by a strong mentorship program designed to facilitate professional growth. The role offers a unique opportunity to work within a premier teaching hospital where therapists frequently engage in research and teaching.
This position includes shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available. Compensation is based on factors including experience, education, and organizational considerations.
Interested candidates should apply with a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and a valid New Mexico Physical Therapist License (or temporary license). CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification is required within 30 days. Bilingual skills in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are considered nonessential but valued.
