UNMH is New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's premier teaching hospital. The Women's Health Physical Therapy team operates within this dynamic environment, focusing primarily on Women's Health and Pelvic Floor issues while also serving men with pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. The team works in close collaboration with Uro-gynecology providers, often co-presenting continuing education programs and participating in Uro-gynecology fellows' interviews and research. Many team members also teach within the UNM Physical Therapy program, fostering a culture where educational opportunities abound.
This Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy position is based in an outpatient clinic with a 0.75 FTE schedule on days. The role involves organizing and delivering medically-prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. While the position serves patients across the lifespan—including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics—the core focus remains on pelvic floor rehabilitation.
The team values professional growth and development, encouraging participation in educational programs, literature review, and workshops. This role is ideal for those seeking a supportive environment where new graduates are welcome and will be paired with a strong mentorship program, though prior experience is preferred.
Candidates selected for this position will be supported through a robust mentorship program designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the role and the UNMH culture. The department emphasizes proactive patient safety and continuous improvement, inviting team members to question current policies and processes to enhance care delivery.
UNMH is committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, including those who are bilingual in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.
