UNM Hospital is New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's premier teaching hospital. The Women's Health Physical Therapy team operates within the WHC Physical Therapy department, focusing primarily on Women's Health and Pelvic Floor issues while also serving men with pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. The team works in close collaboration with Uro-gynecology providers, often co-presenting continuing education programs and participating in Uro-gynecology fellows' interviews and research. Many team members also teach within the UNM Physical Therapy program, creating an environment where educational opportunities abound.
This Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy position is based in an outpatient clinic with a 0.75 FTE schedule on days. The position requires evaluating patients to determine treatment goals, planning therapy programs involving physical means such as exercise, massage, and therapeutic modalities, and consulting with medical staff on patient care. Additionally, the role includes educating patients and caregivers on specialized equipment, posture control, and home safety, as well as supervising and instructing Physical Therapy students and volunteers.
We welcome new graduates and experienced therapists alike. While experience is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply and will be supported through a strong mentorship program. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and possess a valid New Mexico Physical Therapist License (or Temporary License).
