About the Role
This position serves as a Class Incumbent performing at an advanced level within the Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Mechanic series. The role is dedicated to ensuring the efficient operation of the physical plant through preventative maintenance, HVAC repair, and restoration activities across traditional trades fields. Incumbents work on structures, systems, and equipment, handling complex maintenance repairs on interior and exterior building fixtures, bridges, and heavy-duty mechanical systems.
The role involves significant restoration and renovation work on facilities, including historical buildings. Incumbents may design layouts, build partitions and shelving from sketches or plans, and renovate furniture and equipment to optimize space usage. Additionally, the position requires operating and maintaining life safety devices such as sprinkler systems, as well as managing compressor, pump, and hydraulic lift operations. In some instances, the incumbent may oversee skilled, semi-skilled, and laboring personnel or perform specialized tasks such as highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.
