The Department of Pathology is a vital component of UI Health Care, a comprehensive health sciences center serving Iowa, the broader region, and patients referred from across the United States and overseas. Our Clinical Laboratories are nationally recognized for providing outstanding, comprehensive care. The department offers a breadth and depth of services among the best in the country and actively participates in educational programs for medical students, clinical laboratory scientists, and biomedical scientists.
The Phlebotomy Technician I plays a key role in specimen collection and laboratory support within the Pathology department. This position operates at 80% time, Monday through Friday, covering four 8-hour shifts between 07:00 and 18:00. The schedule includes a rotating day off determined by clinic needs and workload.
In this role, you will perform phlebotomy draws, manage computer data entry, and handle clerical tasks. You will be responsible for ordering, receiving, and distributing phlebotomy supplies, as well as responding to basic inquiries regarding phlebotomy services. Additionally, you may administer select medications as designated by protocol. This position requires representing assigned work areas with professionalism and efficiency.
