About the Role
As an Outpatient Phlebotomist, you will be the vital link between patients and diagnostic information. Your primary mission is to process blood draws with precision, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and patient care. You will interact professionally with laboratory management, physicians, and hospital staff to facilitate the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases.
Your day will involve conducting phlebotomy procedures for diverse patient populations, including adults, adolescents, and infants, across outpatient draw stations, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and healthcare clinics. You will be responsible for positively identifying patients, labeling specimens with unique identifiers, and utilizing computer systems to process physician orders and enter results. This role requires a balance of technical skill and interpersonal warmth, as you manage STAT tests, special procedures like therapeutic phlebotomy, and the logistics of driving lab courier vehicles to off-site locations.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePerform phlebotomy procedures for patients in outpatient stations, nursing homes, and clinics
- check_circleCollect specimens for special procedures including therapeutic phlebotomy and glucose tolerance testing
- check_circleProcess specimens for reference labs and manage orders in Quest 360 and Lab Corp systems
- check_circleProcess physician orders and enter lab requisitions into Meditech and other systems
- check_circleIdentify patients using two unique identifiers and label specimens accurately
- check_circleDrive lab courier vehicles to off-site locations to transport specimens as needed
- check_circleTrain new employees and students on phlebotomy procedures and safety protocols
- check_circleMaintain compliance with OSHA, TOSHA, and hospital safety regulations during all procedures
Requirements

- verifiedValid operational Tennessee driver's license
