The Phlebotomist plays a vital role in the Laboratory Specimen Collection process. You will be responsible for collecting blood and non-blood specimens using appropriate equipment, strictly adhering to the Laboratory Specimen Collection Manual and Phlebotomy Procedures. Your work involves interpreting verbal and written physician orders and obtaining specimens from patients of all ages. Beyond collection, you will handle and process lab specimens, operate centrifuges, and ensure proper specimen transfer and storage. The role also includes performing outpatient EKGs as needed and maintaining timely communication with the outpatient lab central scheduler, regional coordinators, and managers. Flexibility is key, as the position may require travel between sites to cover unscheduled absences or emergencies.
