About the Role

The Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA) plays a vital role in the execution of clinical trials designed to test new medications and medical devices for safety and efficacy. Because these trials are highly regulated and thoroughly monitored, the role is essential in managing the significant record-keeping and compliance burdens inherent to the industry.

In this position, you will support the clinical trial process by maintaining organized files, performing pharmacy technician duties, and communicating routinely with trial sites, coordinators, and patients. You will demonstrate good clinical practices while strictly adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and local, federal, and state regulations. Your work ensures a positive patient and client experience throughout the entire patient journey, from the initial ordering of study drugs to the successful delivery of prescriptions and supplies.

Day in the Life

Your day will involve a blend of administrative precision and logistical coordination. You will monitor study activities to ensure full compliance with protocols, preparing for and participating in quality assurance audits conducted by study sponsors or federal agencies. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to maintaining required records, including case report forms, drug dispensation records, and regulatory forms.

You will also manage the physical and logistical aspects of the trial, such as organizing study equipment, inspecting inventory for integrity and expiration dates, and picking and packing patient prescriptions. This includes creating appropriate shipping labels, restocking products, and assisting with shipment status modifications. Additionally, you will maintain contact with sponsors to coordinate site visits and resolve issues regarding incomplete data or protocol problems.

To stay current, you will review scientific literature and participate in continuing education activities, conferences, and seminars. This role requires a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of some travel as needed.
