As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department operates smoothly and safely. You will be the face of our pharmacy, delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging with patients, resolving issues, and building strong relationships with our most valuable customers. Your work helps maintain the integrity of the pharmacy practice while fostering a positive environment for both patients and team members.
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy in strict accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Your day involves utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring all data is entered correctly. You will be responsible for filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for possible interactions.
Customer interaction is central to your role. You will greet customers, offer assistance with products and services, and handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention. If you hold PTCB or ExCPT certification, you will also coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations. Additionally, you will support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, while maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy environment.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through our designated training program or state-required registration. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Six months of experience in a retail environment. Prior work experience with Walgreens. Good math skills for filling prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications. Good computer skills. Knowledge of store inventory control. PTCB or ExCPT certification.
