About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team and delivering a distinctive, delightful customer experience. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy while ensuring all activities align with state, federal, and company policies. Your presence helps maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the pharmacy department, from processing prescriptions to managing inventory and supporting clinical services.

Day in the Life

Your day begins by engaging with customers and patients, greeting them warmly, and offering assistance with products and services. You will resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience, modeling best practices like proactive help and courtesy.

Technically, you will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, enter data accurately, and process prescriptions. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine correctness, and checking for interactions. If you hold PTCB or ExCPT certification, you may also coach other technicians and cashiers on system operations.

Beyond the counter, you handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, process manual claims for third-party programs, and support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments. You may also assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and help maintain the pharmacy's cleanliness and organization.
