About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department operates smoothly and safely. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in strict accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies. Your work is essential to maintaining the flow of prescriptions and delivering a distinctive, delightful customer experience to every patient who walks through our doors.
Day in the Life
Your day involves a dynamic mix of clinical support and customer service. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, pouring, and verifying medications while checking for possible interactions. You are also responsible for registering sales, handling cash, and processing manual claims for third-party programs efficiently.
Beyond the counter, you engage directly with customers by greeting them, offering assistance with products, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. You may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and help coordinate with healthcare clinics and external providers. Additionally, you support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, while maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy environment.
Training & Growth
We are committed to your professional development. You will earn and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through our designated training programs and state-required registration. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
