This position serves as a vital bridge between clinical expertise and patient care, transforming the pharmacy experience from a purely transactional process into an interpersonal healthcare partnership. As a key member of the pharmacy team, you will provide comprehensive consulting services to customers, focusing on the effective usage of medications, drug interaction awareness, and preventive healthcare initiatives such as immunizations and diabetes management.
The role is designed to support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy while actively assisting the Pharmacy Manager in optimizing financials, inventory management, and overall customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications, strictly adhering to regulatory guidelines, company policies, and the Good Faith Dispensing policy.
Your day will be defined by a blend of clinical precision and community engagement. You will engage directly with patients, greeting them and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience that models Walgreens service traits. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to counseling patients on medication usage, side effects, and alternatives, while also performing clinical tasks like drug therapy reviews and medication management.
Beyond the counter, you will foster strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses, to enhance growth opportunities and coordinate care. You will also participate in community outreach activities and collaborate with Central Pharmacy Operations to support customer registration and resolve complex issues. Whether managing the opening and closing of the pharmacy, analyzing performance data, or conducting virtual product reviews, your goal is to promote a shift toward proactive, patient-centered care.
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and regulatory compliance. Successful applicants will be willing to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date. Additionally, you must be willing to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire, as well as become a Certified Immunizer within the same timeframe.
