This position serves as a vital bridge between clinical expertise and patient care, transforming the pharmacy experience from a purely transactional process into an interpersonal healthcare partnership. As a key member of the pharmacy team, you will provide comprehensive consulting services to customers, focusing on the effective usage of medications, drug interaction awareness, and preventive healthcare initiatives such as immunizations and diabetes management.
The role is designed to support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy while actively assisting the Pharmacy Manager in optimizing financials, inventory management, and the overall customer experience. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications, strictly adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies.
Your day will be defined by a blend of clinical precision and community engagement. You will engage directly with patients, greeting them and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience that models Walgreens service traits. Beyond standard dispensing, you will counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and alternatives, referring to medical providers when necessary to ensure health needs are fully addressed.
You will also drive the shift toward proactive healthcare by performing retail, clinical, and wellness services, including flu shots and health screenings. This involves maintaining current knowledge of pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus and StoreNET to support both staff and customers, as well as analyzing performance data to enhance asset protection and inventory management. Additionally, you will foster strong relationships with the local medical community, participating in outreach activities to promote the pharmacy's growth and services.
To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and regulatory compliance. Successful applicants will be expected to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to their start date. Furthermore, licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the relevant state must be obtained within 90 days of hire, along with certification as an immunizer or a commitment to becoming one within the same timeframe.
