Pharmacy Intern

About the Role

As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will serve as a vital link between our pharmacy team and the patients we serve. This role is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the practice of pharmacy while you complete your education. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to learn how to provide the best patient experience, ensuring that every interaction is distinctive and delightful.

Your day will involve assisting the pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will gain proficiency in using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Beyond technical tasks, you will model and share customer service best practices, developing strong relationships with customers by greeting them, offering proactive assistance, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. You will also support the delivery of patient care services within the state scope of practice, such as patient counseling and health services like blood pressure monitoring.

Training and Development

This position is a unique opportunity to learn from store and pharmacy team members, field leadership, and customers. You will complete required training to maintain knowledge of the latest healthcare and pharmacy news and developments. As you progress, you will learn and champion pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service standards needed to perform as a future pharmacist. You will also gain experience in inventory management, asset protection, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked pharmacy department.
