As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will learn to provide the best patient experience by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team members in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience while learning the ropes of pharmacy policy, procedures, and customer service best practices needed to perform as a future pharmacist.
You will engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. You will model customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits like greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, as well as Walgreens service traits such as offering help proactively and servicing until satisfied. Developing strong relationships with customers is a key part of your daily interactions.
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy, reviewing and complying with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. You will perform duties as assigned in accordance with standard operating procedures for entering, third-party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions. Additionally, you will assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns, including patient counseling and other health services like blood pressure monitoring and medication therapy management.
Your day-to-day responsibilities also include handling telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, assisting with inventory management activities such as ordering and storing shipments, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department. You will complete required training and maintain your knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.
To be considered for this position, you must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program and be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). We require a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
