Banner Children's at Desert (BDMC) in Mesa is a state-of-the-art, 206-bed children's hospital that was opened in November 2009. Designed "Through the Eyes of a Child," the facility features all the comforts of home and does not feel institutional. It is meant to inspire healing, learning, and imagination. The hospital serves a pediatric population of 350,000+ and is a Level Two Pediatric Trauma Center and a Level Three NICU. It is part of Banner Desert Medical Center, one of the largest and most comprehensive facilities in Arizona, which serves as a tertiary referral center for the East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix.
The hospital features a 120-bed Level 3 NICU staffed by Neonatologists and a 24-bed PICU with 24/7 in-house intensivist coverage. Non-procedure zones, such as the Forever Young Zone, Sophie's Place, and the Big Outside, are used for music, play therapy, respite, and relaxation. Our Child Life professionals play an active role in ensuring children feel safe and prepared for the hospital experience. A volunteer dog therapy program helps cheer up young patients during their stays, and well-trained social services staff ensure a complete range of care.
Banner Children's Specialists (BCS) is seeking a Pediatric Nocturnist to provide inpatient care for children and newborns at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa. You will join a collaborative, dynamic community hospitalist team committed to delivering exceptional inpatient care. This role offers the opportunity to work with medical students and residents from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, if desired.
The position is a 1.0 FTE role caring for pediatric inpatients and newborns at a community-based hospital with robust specialist support. The night shift runs from 7pm to 7am, with a scheduling pattern of 7 days on and 7 days off to foster work-life balance.
