The Section of Pediatric Interventional Radiology at Phoenix Children's is a vital component of a 533-bed Level 1 freestanding children's hospital, the largest pediatric facility in the Southwest USA. The Section performs over 7,500 image-guided procedures annually, supported by a dedicated team of four pediatric interventional radiologists, five IR Advanced Practice Providers, and a Care Navigator. The department operates two Philips DSA rooms (one biplane), dedicated ultrasound in each room, an IR-only pre-procedure area, and a consult room, with a separate minor procedures room for low-complexity cases. Expansion with an additional biplane DSA room is planned for 2027.
The Division of Radiology comprises 31 full-time radiologists subspecialized into Body, Neuro, and IR sections. The Section boasts a long and rich history of clinical excellence and teaching, participating in numerous multispecialty programs including a vascular anomalies clinic. The hospital hosts several centers of excellence, such as the Heart Center, Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, Barrow Neurological Institute, and active solid organ and bone marrow transplant programs. Subspecialized pediatric anesthesiologists provide anesthesia services, fostering a strong working relationship among nurses, technologists, and physicians.
This full-time position offers the opportunity to join a high-volume, collaborative team performing a vast array of interventions, including vascular access, treatment of vascular malformations, hepatobiliary procedures, enteral procedures, musculoskeletal procedures, angiography, embolization, and DVT/PE lysis. The role includes a dedicated pediatric neurointerventional radiologist and active participation in teaching and research. Faculty members are eligible for appointments at the University of Arizona College of Medicine (Phoenix), Mayo Clinic, and Creighton University School of Medicine (Phoenix). Research is encouraged and supported by a radiation physicist/imaging scientist and a dedicated research coordinator, with an active program including ACGME-accredited Pediatric Radiology fellowships and additional Neuro and PIR fellow positions.
