UVA Health Children's provides primary and specialty care across more than 30 specialties throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. Located within the University Medical Center, the facility features 111 beds, a pediatric emergency department, a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The hospital is home to a complex congenital heart program that accepts patients with all types of cardiac defects, including those requiring transplants and ECMO.
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support our multidisciplinary team in caring for neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients. This role requires a clinician who is comfortable working across all units of the Children's Hospital, including the NICU, PICU, high-risk delivery areas, and acute care pediatrics. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills while managing complex respiratory needs.
You will be expected to operate specialized equipment, including the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A. The position involves floating within your scope of practice across the facility, requiring adaptability and broad clinical competence. The unit operates on a self-scheduling model; while the manager will explain the system during the interview, specific schedule preferences cannot be guaranteed, though efforts will be made to accommodate them.
Candidates must submit a copy of all required certifications with their application. Nursing license verification via Nursys is required for submission. If you have a pending license, it must be in-hand by the Wednesday before your start date; however, RRT travelers must have their license in-hand at the time of submission.
