The Payroll Specialist, Senior serves as a key member of the City of Atlanta's Shared Services payroll team. This fully in-house environment supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll for more than 9,000 employees. The team operates with a mission to ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations alongside City policies, while delivering high-quality customer service to employees and departments across the organization.
In this fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, you will manage complex payroll processes while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy. You will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned departments, resolving inquiries regarding deductions, pay rates, and payroll-related issues. Your day will involve partnering with Human Resources to verify data accuracy, researching discrepancies, and preparing balance sheet reconciliations. Beyond transaction processing, you will be instrumental in developing process improvements that leverage technology to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and reporting).
