The Patient Financial Services Specialist serves as a vital link between patient care areas and data processing at Tavernier Health Center. This role ensures that Billing and Encounter Forms are processed accurately while maintaining a smooth workflow of documents. You will be responsible for registering new clients, updating existing profiles, and performing financial screenings for patients seeking services from Community Health of South Florida, Inc.
Your day involves a mix of administrative precision and patient interaction. You will check patients in and out for medical services, verify insurance coverage (including Medicare and Medicaid), and handle cashier duties by collecting payments and entering data into the system. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to ensuring compliance with Quality Care Guidelines; this includes identifying patients who need Advance Directives, Learning Needs Assessments, or Depression Screenings and providing the appropriate forms.
You will also review daily batches, balance accounts, and submit journals to your supervisor. As a team member, you may be called upon to train new employees on registration, cashiering, and payment posting functions. The role requires strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies while maintaining effective oral and written communication with patients and colleagues.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong clerical skills, including typing speed and computer literacy, along with knowledge of math and telephone etiquette. The position is non-exempt and may require variable shifts.
