Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleOrganize, direct, and coordinate daily job functions of the inpatient coding teams
  • check_circleEducate providers and healthcare professionals on proper documentation practices for accurate billing
  • check_circleCollaborate with clinical quality teams to ensure accurate capture of outcomes data and measures
  • check_circlePerform continuous quality and compliance reviews of coded records to ensure accuracy
  • check_circleDevelop and maintain department policies, procedures, and training materials for coders
  • check_circleEnsure all inpatient coding processes comply with state and federal regulatory requirements
  • check_circleConduct ongoing performance assessments of staff competency and provide timely feedback
  • check_circleLead DRG, MCC/CC, HCC, and risk adjustment coding efforts using advanced coding knowledge
  • check_circleEnforce the use of physician queries to clarify documentation as appropriate
  • check_circleCoordinate with central billing and clinical documentation improvement programs to resolve coding issues

Requirements

  • verifiedHigh school diploma or GED
  • verifiedBachelor's degree preferred
  • verifiedAHIMA credentials (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P) or AAPC credentials (CPPM, CPMA, CRC, COC, CPC, or CPC-H) required within 1 year
  • verifiedMinimum 2 years in a supervisory or management role
