Hartford HealthCare is Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network, where over 40,000 colleagues share a common pride in their work, knowing that every moment matters. The System Support Office was created to recognize the evolving responsibilities of a large group of employees who now work on behalf of the entire system rather than a single member organization. This new umbrella organization provides a unique identity with unified payroll, benefits, performance management, and service recognition programs, ensuring that departments collaborate effectively across the network.
This position serves as a pivotal leader within the Health Information Management (HIM) Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) program. You will develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive quality, audit, education, and denials prevention program that aligns with clinical, regulatory, and professional standards. Your mission is to ensure the efficient operation of the unit by managing staff, assigning work based on business needs, and collecting data to monitor progress.
In this role, you will manage a team of CDI Specialists responsible for inpatient reviews, mortality, Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs), Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs), and other specialty areas. You will act as a subject matter expert for denials and appeals, collaborating with the Revenue Cycle Medical Director to drive provider education and prevent DRG downgrade denials. Beyond daily operations, you will facilitate the flow of reporting with the Quality Management Department, present quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the compliance office, and meet revenue cycle goals.
Your day-to-day impact extends to education and strategy. You will create and implement annual education plans for providers, CDI staff, and coders, while overseeing orientation for new hires. You will also manage the CDI education platform, assign assessments, and develop focused training programs based on audit results. As a manager, you will exercise authority over performance improvements, promotions, and terminations, while coaching and inspiring your team to maximize their potential. You will also work with vendor stakeholders to ensure optimal value from technology tools like Iodine and ensure compliance with the Ethical Standards for CDI Professionals.
We invite you to become part of an organization on the cutting edge, helping to bring new technologies, breakthrough treatments, and community education to countless men, women, and children. With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth. We provide a competitive benefits program designed to ensure work/life balance, recognizing that a thriving organization starts with thriving employees. This is your moment to join a team where every moment matters.
