In the Nephrology PCU (5EAST) at Roper Hospital, you will assist the nursing staff by performing a blend of clerical and patient care duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role is vital for maintaining the flow of care on the unit, ensuring patient records are updated in a timely and orderly manner, and serving as a welcoming first point of contact for patients and families.
You will be the face of the unit, acknowledging and greeting customers upon arrival with an enthusiastic and friendly approach. Your day will involve constant interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors. You will utilize your knowledge of medical terminology and clerical procedures to manage files and reports, while also applying your skills in patient care techniques to monitor and report changes in patient conditions to the professional nursing team.
This position is based in the Nights shift (7:00 pm to 7:30 am) with a schedule of 36 hours per week. The role includes working every other weekend, as well as holiday and storm team requirements. You will be expected to maintain a safe working environment by adhering to organizational policies and recognizing common safety hazards.
