This position serves as an integral member of the dialysis healthcare team, dedicated to providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the role ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulations set by federal, state, and corporate agencies. The primary mission is to support the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, actively participating in process improvements that enhance patient satisfaction and help patients achieve their quality goals.
Your day involves a blend of direct patient care, technical operation, and environmental stewardship. You will welcome patients, assess their well-being, and evaluate vascular access before initiating dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders. Throughout the session, you will monitor patient responses, manage machine safety alarms, and intervene as necessary based on physician orders or facility protocols.
Beyond clinical duties, you will ensure the treatment environment remains safe and clean by disinfecting machines and equipment between patients. You will also play a key role in the Transitional Care Unit, guiding newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis, coordinating care with various disciplines, and assisting patients in understanding home dialysis options and treatment modalities. Accurate documentation of vital signs, treatment parameters, and lab specimens is a continuous part of the workflow, ensuring seamless communication with the registered nurse and supervisor.
Candidates must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the specified timeline. Successful completion of the organization's dialysis training program and CPR certification is required for continued employment. As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test; however, failing this test does not automatically preclude employment, as the company will consider reasonable accommodations.
