As a Dialysis Technician, you will serve as an integral member of the dialysis healthcare team, working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to deliver safe and effective dialysis therapy. Your primary mission is to ensure patients receive high-quality care while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant working environment. You will play a vital role in the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), actively participating in process improvements that help patients achieve their health goals.
Your day begins by welcoming assigned patients and inquiring about their wellbeing since their last treatment. You will evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and initiate dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders, carefully monitoring blood flow and dialysate flow. Throughout the session, you will continuously monitor the patient's response to therapy, checking vital signs and addressing any intradialytic problems as directed.
Beyond direct patient care, you are responsible for the meticulous setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, including conducting safety checks and ensuring all alarms are enabled. You will also manage the transitional care unit for newly admitted patients, guiding them through their first four weeks of dialysis and assisting with education on home dialysis options. Your duties extend to maintaining infection control standards, cleaning equipment between treatments, and accurately documenting all treatment parameters and patient data in clinical applications.
Successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the organization's culture and customer service standards. Continued employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the organization's comprehensive dialysis training program and obtaining CPR certification. As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test; however, failing this test does not automatically preclude employment, as the company will consider reasonable accommodations.
