As a Dialysis Technician, you will serve as an integral member of the dialysis healthcare team, dedicated to providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, your primary mission is to ensure the highest standards of patient care while maintaining strict compliance with organizational policies and federal, state, and corporate regulations.
This role is vital to the patient journey, particularly within our Transitional Care Unit (TCU). You will guide newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis, coordinating care across disciplines to ensure a seamless experience. A key part of your day involves educating patients on treatment options, including the benefits of home dialysis and peritoneal dialysis, and assisting them in transitioning to their chosen modality.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, performing vascular access cannulation, and monitoring patients throughout their treatment. You will act as a liaison between patients, families, and the broader medical team, ensuring that all treatment parameters are met and that any changes in patient condition are promptly reported. Beyond clinical duties, you play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment, actively participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to enhance patient satisfaction and organizational goals.
