In collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare delivery team, this position serves as a vital support under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The primary mission is to perform basic nursing care activities, assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and fully stocked patient care setting, and help direct patient flow. This role is essential for ensuring a supportive environment where patients and families receive compassionate, family-centered care.
As a Unit Communications Associate, you will be the eyes and ears of the unit, observing patients and alerting the RN to any monitor deviations or changes in condition. Your day involves a blend of direct patient care and operational support. You will assist with daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, and skin care, while ensuring proper documentation in the nursing database.
You will work closely with the team to maintain a neat and orderly environment, assisting with room preparation for admissions and discharges. A key part of your responsibility is fostering a safe culture by speaking up when unsafe behaviors are observed and practicing "Stop, Think, Act, and Review" to self-check performance. You will also participate in shared leadership by contributing to unit discussions and staying informed about council meetings and unit issues.
This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week. The schedule includes rotating day and night shifts, as well as every other weekend.
We are committed to diversity and recognize the value of cultural and ethnic differences. We partner with all team members to achieve goals and maintain a collaborative, respectful work environment.
