About the Role

As a Patient Assistant in the Main Operating Room, you will be an essential part of the surgical team, assisting with patient care in a timely and accurate manner. This role exists to support the seamless flow of the OR suite, ensuring that patients receive safe, high-quality care from pre-operative preparation through post-operative transport. You will collaborate closely with nurses and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient needs, manage the sterile environment, and maintain the efficiency of the surgical workflow.

In this full-time, day-shift position, your day will involve a dynamic mix of physical and technical tasks. You will assist with patient positioning and transport, manage the sterile field using aseptic principles, and help control the OR environment regarding temperature, humidity, and traffic patterns. A significant part of your role involves preparing operating rooms for the next case, handling medications and solutions safely, and responding promptly to communications. You will work in a fast-paced environment serving a diverse patient population ranging from infants to seniors, requiring the ability to function both independently and as a supportive team member under pressure.

Hiring Process & Application

To join our team, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. While prior surgery experience is beneficial, completion of the Patient Assist Level I orientation is also accepted. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, stand for up to twelve hours, and lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
