As a Para Sped Low Incidence professional within USD 259, you will serve as a vital partner to teachers and administrators in supporting students with intensive needs. This role exists to ensure that every student receives the personalized attention and safety required to thrive in both special education and integrated regular education settings. You will work under the direct supervision of a department supervisor and the direction of certified staff to facilitate daily learning, behavior management, and physical care.
Your day involves a dynamic blend of instructional support, crisis intervention, and physical assistance. You will help implement student behavior plans, assist with classroom routines, and support the integration of technology and low-vision equipment. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to ensuring student safety, which may include transporting students, assisting with medical needs under supervision, and managing physical transfers or hygiene care. Success in this position requires the ability to interact with a diverse population using tact, diplomacy, and a positive attitude while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student and staff information.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate knowledge of first aid, child abuse symptoms, and illness signs. Specific roles may require proficiency in sign language modalities, Braille, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
