As a Para Sped Low Incidence support professional, you will serve as a vital extension of the classroom team, working under the supervision of an administrator and the direct direction of a certificated teacher. Your primary mission is to facilitate the education and integration of students with low-incidence disabilities, ensuring they have the support necessary to thrive in both special and regular education settings.
This role is designed for individuals who are dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment. You will be the bridge between students and their curriculum, assisting with everything from academic reinforcement and behavior management to personal care and transportation. Whether supporting a student with low vision, assisting with adaptive technology, or helping a student navigate social integration, your presence ensures that every student receives the individualized attention they need to succeed.
Your day is dynamic and student-centered. You will work closely with teachers to implement behavior plans, manage classroom routines, and provide instructional assistance in academic areas. A significant portion of your time will be spent facilitating integration efforts, helping students move between assigned areas, and supporting them during school activities both on and off campus.
You will also play a key role in the physical and emotional well-being of your students. This includes assisting with basic needs such as hygiene, feeding, and physical transfers, as well as managing crisis situations with calm and professionalism. You will utilize tools like slates, styluses, and low-vision equipment to support learning, while also maintaining detailed records of student progress and behavior. Collaboration is central to your role; you will participate in team meetings, PLCs, and parent conferences to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
