The Activity Assistant serves as a vital support to the Activity Director, helping to run a creative and interactive program designed to meet the unique interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident. This role ensures that all activities are conducted in strict accordance with federal, state, local, and corporate standards.
You will be the bridge between the facility and its residents, families, and the broader community. Your day involves planning and facilitating a diverse range of activities, from individual hobbies and crafts to large group events and outings. You will help maintain the monthly activity calendar, manage attendance records, and ensure that materials—such as Braille books or audio content—are available to support self-initiated engagement.
Communication is central to this position. You will interact regularly with residents, their families, support personnel, and government agencies to advocate for the best interests of the community. Additionally, you will assist in discharge planning, activity care plans, and quality assurance initiatives to correct any identified deficiencies.
Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply. While one year of experience in a long-term care facility is preferred, the role is open to those who demonstrate the ability to read technical procedures, interpret written and oral instructions, and solve practical problems effectively.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment is generally low to moderate in noise level, though the role requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
