About the Role
This is a 6-12+ month remote contract opportunity based in the District of Columbia, with the potential for extension. The primary focus of this position is to leverage specialized expertise in managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls within large, complex environments. A critical requirement for success in this role is hands-on experience with Firemon for firewall ruleset reviews and cleanups.
Day in the Life
You will serve as a key technical resource, utilizing your deep knowledge of Panorama, device templates, and advanced Palo Alto features such as Wildfire, URL filtering, and DLP. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to conducting comprehensive firewall ruleset reviews, performing cleanups, and ensuring compliance with CIS hardening benchmarks. You will be responsible for identifying and remediating compliance gaps while maintaining rigorous documentation standards.
In this collaborative environment, you will interface effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive process improvements. You will utilize JIRA for ticketing, workflow management, and project tracking, ensuring that all activities are well-documented and aligned with organizational goals. The role demands a high degree of independence, requiring you to manage your workload effectively while contributing to a supportive team dynamic.
