The Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine resides within the Department of Medicine. Our team of 5.5 MDs, an NP, an RN manager, a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist, Chaplain, and Social Worker serves as expert palliative consultants to UMMC's multi-disciplinary service teams, adding an extra layer of support to patients and their families. The program is strongly supported by physician directors of our Medical and Surgical ICUs, the Shock Trauma Center Director, Hospital Chief Medical Officer, Nursing leadership, and Chairs of Internal and Family Medicine.
Our program strengths include a multidisciplinary and highly motivated staff, routine collection of operational data, project integration with the Medical ICU, and a strong foundation for grant funding to further interdisciplinary Palliative Medicine research.
We are seeking an academic palliative medicine physician to join our expanding program. This role involves clinical duties spanning both inpatient activities and the development of a new outpatient program. The position offers protected time dedicated to teaching and research, allowing you to contribute to the academic mission while providing high-quality patient care.
