This opportunity resides with Global Security (GS) within HII's Mission Technologies division. Our team comprises live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) solutions, fleet sustainment, nuclear and environmental programs, and Australia business operations. As a trusted partner to the U.S. Navy for over 40 years, HII designs, develops, and operates the largest LVC enterprise that prepares warfighters for cross-domain battle. We take a holistic approach to life-cycle maritime defense systems, ensuring a high state of readiness from small watercraft to aircraft carriers. About the Role
Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy's readiness. We are seeking a Junior Outside Machinist to provide support at the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Product Family in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for accomplishing mechanical repairs and testing both onboard ships and in the shop. You will work directly with ship's mechanical systems and equipment, performing removal, repair, overhaul, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modification, and testing. Your work will ensure that critical components—from antenna tilting groups and boat davit equipment to hydraulic pumps and steering systems—remain operational and safe. This position requires utilizing precision measuring instruments and fixtures to disassemble, clean, inspect, and assess equipment parts, providing recommendations for reuse or replacement to the Government.

Hiring Process
Start dates are contingent upon the approval of base access, which is required for this position and continued employment. Selected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a CAC ID Base access and DoD Security Clearance. You will be expected to complete OSHA 10, CPR, low-speed vehicle training, and PQS 301 Craftsman qualification within ninety (90) days of providing direct support.
