Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

About the Role

The Outpatient RN CAP 1 position serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you will be accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care, encompassing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This role is designed to foster professional growth while ensuring the safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.

In this capacity, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify expected outcomes, update nursing assessments, and ensure patients are aware of transplant and treatment modality options. Additionally, you will serve as a resource for the healthcare team and assist in the training and orientation of new staff.

Work Environment

This position operates within a healthcare facility characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role involves direct patient care, which may include heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. Employees must be prepared for frequent, prolonged periods of standing and bending. The work environment may also involve exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. Day-to-day activities include desk work, computer documentation, and interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. Occasional travel to training sites or other facilities may be required.
