The Substitute Teacher at EMNRBS thrives in a continually changing classroom environment. This role is primarily responsible for delivering consistent, engaging, and high-quality facilitation of learning across a wide variety of academic subjects. Working with established lesson plans provided by the absent full-time teacher, the substitute ensures instruction remains standards-aligned while supporting the academic and social-emotional development of all learners in accordance with school procedures.
This position requires a well-developed ability to pivot at a moment's notice to create a positive learning environment. It demands strong classroom management skills, familiarity with differentiated lesson concepts, and a deep understanding that teaching is an act of servant leadership extending beyond standard hours. The role reports directly to the Academic Director: Humanities.
At EMNRBS, efficient and effective instructional feedback is a cornerstone of quality education. We utilize the Marshall Teacher Evaluation Rubric to guide our formal performance evaluations, focusing on domains such as planning, classroom management, instruction delivery, and family outreach. We are committed to working with BIPOC teens from the South Bronx and value educators who hold students accountable to high academic and personal standards while actively modeling these behaviors daily.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate a passion for education, experience in public or charter high schools, and a commitment to student growth. The selection process includes reviewing qualifications such as a valid NYS Teaching Certification and relevant experience in curriculum design and differentiation.
EMNRBS is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
