As a key member of the clinical team, you will assist the Optometrist in delivering comprehensive eye examinations and patient care. Your primary focus is to guide patients through their clinical experience, ensuring a seamless journey from intake to examination. You will conduct pre-testing and special tests, gather detailed patient history, and document all necessary information to support the doctor's diagnosis and treatment plans.
In this role, you will utilize various clinical instruments to measure visual capabilities and administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications. You will also perform contact lens insertions, educate patients on lens care, and manage contact lens trials inventory. Beyond clinical duties, you will serve as a scribe for the doctor, translating information as needed, and prioritize patient flow while maintaining effective communication with the medical team and patients.
You will also support office operations by answering phones, verifying insurance, checking patients in and out, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. The position offers opportunities to work on special projects, cross-train in different departments, and perform other related duties as assigned.
The working environment is generally favorable, with adequate lighting and temperature. There are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, or other factors.
