About the Role

This position serves as a vital support to the pharmacist, dedicated to ensuring optimal pharmaceutical care for every patient. The role is central to the safe and efficient flow of medication within the pharmacy, requiring a blend of technical precision and compassionate service.

In this capacity, you will manage the full lifecycle of medication handling: gathering, labeling, and distributing prescriptions with accuracy. A key component of the day-to-day involves the safe preparation and compounding of medications, including hazardous substances, while strictly adhering to regulatory requirements for controlled substances. You will also play an active role in drug diversion surveillance and assist in maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing processes.

Beyond technical duties, this role offers the opportunity to mentor new pharmacy staff and collaborate within a busy, fast-paced environment. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to follow complex instructions, and a commitment to detail-oriented work that respects the age and ability considerations of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

  • verifiedHigh School diploma or equivalent
  • verifiedAt least 6 months applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • verifiedCurrent registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy
  • verifiedCurrent accredited Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT); PTCB (preferred) or NHA
  • verifiedNo history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program
  • verifiedProficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • verifiedWorking knowledge of Pyxis or equivalent automated dispensing cabinet
  • verifiedProficiency in inventory management software

Nice to Have

Previous purchasing and/or inventory management experience. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel. Working knowledge of Pyxis or equivalent automated dispensing cabinet and proficiency in inventory management software. Completion of post-secondary education. PTCB certification.
