OPS FOOD SUPPORT WORKER

About the Role

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking an OPS Food Support Worker to join the team at the Alexander "Sandy" Nininger State Veterans' Nursing Home in Pembroke Pines. In this capacity, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily food service operations, ensuring that veterans receive nutritious and well-prepared meals in a safe, sanitary environment.

You will work under the supervision of the Food Service Director and the Food Production and Services Supervisor. Your day-to-day activities involve operating kitchen equipment such as grills, stoves, deep fryers, and broilers to prepare a variety of hot and cold food items according to approved recipes. The role requires active participation in food preparation tasks, including cutting and deboning meats and poultry, as well as managing inventory levels and assisting with purchase requests for supplies.

Beyond food preparation, you will be responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary conditions throughout the kitchen and serving lines, verifying incoming shipments, and ensuring compliance with all state and facility safety procedures. The position may also involve assisting with special catering events and meal charges as needed.
