Our Angelina Lumber facility is seeking self-motivated individuals for an Operator Apprentice role. This position is designed as an entry-level opportunity with a clear expectation that dedicated team members will advance into progressively skilled positions. As an Operator Apprentice, you will be the backbone of our lumberyard operations. You will perform a variety of entry-level duties including housekeeping, ground keeping, painting, and janitorial tasks. Your day will involve stacking lumber, monitoring movement to prevent cross-ups, and clearing jams using specialized tools like pike poles. You will work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, ensuring the department remains clean, safe, and productive.
Beyond manual labor, you will gain hands-on experience with equipment maintenance. This includes inspecting, servicing, and performing minor adjustments to machinery, as well as conducting preventative maintenance and daily greasing. You will also perform quality checks, safety observations, and document your results. The role requires cross-training across departments and the ability to assist others, fostering a collaborative environment where you can learn and eventually train others.
