The University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology, is a world-class medical destination at the forefront of transformative education, science, and healthcare. As a nationally recognized leader in the field, our multidisciplinary team of highly trained pediatric anesthesia experts is dedicated to taking care of patients, supporting one another, and shaping the future of Pediatric Anesthesiology.
Our primary clinical sites are the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) hospitals located in the Denver Metro region. This premier hospital system has been highly ranked among pediatric hospitals for nearly two decades. The flagship hospital sits on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, featuring a Level IV NICU and Level 1 pediatric trauma capabilities. With four hospitals, a network of 16 care locations, and over 500 outreach clinics across 29 cities, the CHCO network serves the children of Colorado and the six-state surrounding region.
We are seeking a full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and diagnostic interventions.
As an attending pediatric anesthesiologist, you will administer care independently or supervise physicians-in-training (residents), certified registered nurse anesthetists, and certified anesthesiologist assistants. Your day-to-day responsibilities include examining patients before and after anesthesia, writing pre- and post-anesthesia orders, confirming patient readiness for induction, managing the anesthetic period, and following patients through the post-anesthesia recovery phase. You may be required to perform these services in the operating room, radiology, and outpatient procedure centers.
In addition to clinical duties, faculty members are expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the Department and the School of Medicine. This includes preparing and delivering lectures, serving as a preceptor, and providing one-on-one instruction. You will also be expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the specialty through clinical or laboratory research.
