The University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a general Pediatric Neurologist to join a growing group at the Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs site. The team currently includes two epileptologists and three nurse practitioners, working within a busy outpatient practice located in a multidisciplinary ambulatory center. This setting facilitates close collaboration with other pediatric subspecialists, including Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Genetics, and Neurosurgery.
The team staffs a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and provides consultation services for a 121-bed free-standing Children's Hospital, which features a 16-bed PICU, a 50-bed NICU, and a Level 2 trauma pediatric emergency department. The core mission is to provide excellent pediatric neurology care to southern Colorado and neighboring states.
The parent campus, CU Anschutz Medical Campus, is a public education, clinical, and research facility serving 4,500 students. It stands as a world-class medical destination at the forefront of life-changing science, medicine, and healthcare.
This is primarily a clinical position covering outpatient services for general neurology patients, with some inpatient evaluation and management of children in the EMU. Inpatient call is shared equally with other neurologists, providing coverage for inpatient services, the emergency department, and calls from outside EDs and providers. The role also includes teaching opportunities for medical students and residents.
Colorado Springs has been named the most desirable place to live in the United States by U.S. News and World Report and recognized as the fastest-growing city for millennials by the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings.
